BROKER – vs Agent

All REALTORS® are either registered Real Estate Sales Representatives ("Agents") or Brokers by the Real Estate Council of Ontario. A BROKER designation recognizes the advanced education a REALTOR® has earned in the real estate profession. 


The ABR® designation is the benchmark of excellence in buyer representation. This coveted designation demonstrates to peers and consumers a commitment to providing outstanding service to real estate buyers. The ABR® is awarded by the Real Estate Buyer’s Agent Council (REBAC)—a subsidiary of NAR (National Association of Realtors)—to REALTORS® who meet the specified educational and practical experience criteria.


The SRES® Designation program educates REALTORS® on how to ethically serve the real estate needs of the fastest growing market in real estate, clients age 60+. By earning the SRES® designation, REALTORS® have developed an understanding of the unique characteristics of this diverse group of buyers and sellers, as they enter traditional retirement age and consider downsizing, all the way through to transitioning much later in life into senior lifestyle communities. 


The Certified Negotiations Expert (CNE) is a designation granted to the practitioner who has completed coursework that provides a strong fundamental understanding of all the key aspects of negotiations. Developing the art and skillset of communication to achieve an advantageous outcome in business takes years of study and certified, trained negotiators have the added ability to thrive even in situations of significant stress and pressure... like a negotiation involving the multi-million dollar sale or purchase of real estate property.
